19 May 1962

The Beatles performed at the Star-Club in Hamburg β€” night 36 of their first Star-Club residency, which ran from April to June 1962. By this point the group had signed to EMI and were weeks away from recording 'Love Me Do'.

19 May 1963

The Beatles performed at the Gaumont Cinema in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent β€” one of the dates on the Roy Orbison UK Tour. From Me to You was at number one; the seven-song set included Please Please Me, Twist and Shout, and She Loves You.

19 May 1966

Two significant events at Abbey Road on the same day. In Studio One, The Beatles filmed promotional clips for 'Paperback Writer' and 'Rain' β€” directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, these were among the earliest examples of what would become the music video. In Studio Three, Paul McCartney's 'For No One' was completed with a French horn overdub by Alan Civil of the Philharmonia Orchestra β€” one of the most celebrated instrumental performances on Revolver.

19 May 1967

A press launch for Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was held at Brian Epstein's home at 24 Chapel Street, Belgravia. Around a dozen journalists and broadcasters attended, along with several photographers β€” among them Linda Eastman, who had met Paul McCartney for the first time just four days earlier. It was the first occasion on which she photographed The Beatles.

19 May 1971

John Lennon and Yoko Ono visited Keith Richards at NellcΓ΄te, his rented villa in Villefranche-sur-Mer on the CΓ΄te d'Azur, where The Rolling Stones were recording Exile on Main St. as tax exiles. Photographer Dominic TarlΓ©, resident at the villa throughout the sessions, recalled the visit in his book Exile.

Wings performed at the University of Leeds refectory β€” night 8 of 18 on the Wings 1973 UK Tour, and the second of two consecutive nights in Yorkshire. The support act was Brinsley Schwarz. The 15-song set included 'Live And Let Die', performed ahead of its single release.

19 May 1976

Wings performed at the Omni Coliseum in Atlanta, Georgia β€” night 39 of 65 on the Wings Over The World Tour, and the second of two consecutive nights in Atlanta. The 29-song set was one of the longest of any rock tour of the era.

19 May 1977

Wings continued recording 'Deliver Your Children' and 'Morse Moose And The Grey Goose' aboard the Fair Carol β€” a 105-foot yacht moored in Waterlemon Bay, St John, US Virgin Islands, fitted out as a floating studio using equipment from the Record Plant in New York. Both songs would appear on London Town (1978).

19 May 1979

Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr attended Eric Clapton and Pattie Boyd's wedding party at Hurtwood Edge, Surrey. The three Beatles jammed together on stage as The Dingalings, with Traffic drummer Jim Capaldi and Ringo's 13-year-old son Zak Starkey. John Lennon was not invited; he later told Clapton he would have come if he had known β€” the last opportunity for The Beatles to perform together before Lennon's death in December 1980.

Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band β€” featuring Jack Bruce, Dave Edmunds, Eric Carmen, Simon Kirke, and Mark Rivera β€” performed at the Uncas Pavilion in Uncasville, Connecticut. Show 6 of 32 on the 2000 North American tour; the 23-song set included four Cream classics performed by Jack Bruce.

Paul McCartney performed at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida β€” show 5 of 91 on the Out There Tour, and the second of two consecutive nights in Orlando. The 38-song set differed slightly from the previous night, with 'I've Just Seen A Face' replacing 'Hope Of Deliverance' and 'I Saw Her Standing There' replacing 'Get Back'.
