Early Life & The Formation of The Beatles
Born in Liverpool on 9 October 1940, Lennon formed The Quarrymen in 1956. On 6 July 1957 he met Paul McCartney, and by 1960 the group had evolved into The Beatles. Their formative years were spent performing in Liverpool and Hamburg, building the raw energy that would underpin their global success.

John Lennon's Solo Career
After The Beatles disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a celebrated solo career. Working closely with Yoko Ono, he explored themes of peace, love, personal struggle and political activism. He was murdered outside the Dakota in New York City on 8 December 1980. He was 40 years old.
