1961
- 🎸 The Beatles live: Cavern Club, Liverpool (lunchtime) – 14 July 1961
The Beatles’ 15th appearance at the Cavern Club — their first lunchtime show since returning from their second Hamburg trip. Their previous Cavern appearance had been on 24 March 1961.
- 🎸 The Beatles live: Cavern Club, Liverpool (evening) – 14 July 1961
The Beatles’ 16th Cavern appearance and their second evening show at the venue. Supported by the White Eagle Jazz Band and Ian And The Zodiacs. Ian Edwards recalled Paul McCartney’s performance of ‘Besame Mucho’: “You can’t really imagine a beat group doing Besame Mucho, but they did it very well.”
1962
- 🎸 The Beatles live: Regent Dansette, Rhyl – 14 July 1962
The Beatles’ first-ever performance in Wales, at the Regent Dansette Ballroom in Rhyl. Admission was five shillings; the group were paid £4. The stage was made from wooden boards laid over billiard tables. Supported by local group The Strangers.
1963
- 🎸 The Beatles live: ABC Theatre, Blackpool – 14 July 1963
The Beatles’ second show at the ABC Theatre in a week, compèred by Carry On actor Jack Douglas. They had driven up from a six-night run at the Winter Gardens in Margate to fulfil the engagement.
1964
- 📻 Radio: Top Gear – 14 July 1964
The Beatles recorded seven songs for the first edition of BBC Radio’s Top Gear at Broadcasting House, including the only performance of ‘And I Love Her’ outside EMI Studios. George Martin failed to appear for the piano solo on ‘A Hard Day’s Night’; the studio recording was edited in instead.
1971
- ✈️ Travel: John Lennon – New York City to London – 14 July 1971
John Lennon and Yoko Ono returned to London after six weeks in the US, during which they performed with Frank Zappa at the Fillmore East and attended custody hearings for Ono’s daughter Kyoko. They returned to promote the reissue of Ono’s book Grapefruit.
1974
- 🎹 Recording: Beef Jerky by John Lennon – 14 July 1974
The first recording session for John Lennon’s Walls and Bridges album at the Record Plant, New York. The session began with rehearsals of ‘Move Over Ms L’, ‘Bless You’, ‘Whatever Gets You Thru The Night’, and ‘What You Got’, before moving into the first take of ‘Beef Jerky’.
1990
- 🎸 Paul McCartney live: Veterans Stadium, Philadelphia – 14 July 1990
The 95th date of the Paul McCartney World Tour — 102 dates across 14 countries between September 1989 and July 1990. The first of two consecutive nights in Philadelphia.
1992
- 💿 US album release: Live In Japan by George Harrison – 14 July 1992
George Harrison’s 12th and final solo album released in his lifetime, credited to George Harrison with Eric Clapton and Band. Released in the UK on 13 July; peaked at #126 on the Billboard 200 and #15 on the Oricon chart in Japan.
1995
- 🎸 Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band live: Bud Light Amphitheatre, Harveys Lake – 14 July 1995
The 21st show of the third All-Starr Band’s 50-date tour of Japan and North America. The lineup included John Entwistle, Billy Preston, Felix Cavaliere, Randy Bachman, Mark Farner, Mark Rivera, and Zak Starkey.
2006
- 🎸 Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band live: North Fork Theatre, Jericho – 14 July 2006
The 20th show of the ninth All-Starr Band’s 25-date North American tour, and the second of two consecutive nights at the venue. The lineup included Edgar Winter, Rod Argent, Sheila E, Richard Marx, Billy Squier, and Hamish Stuart.
2008
- 🎸 Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band live: Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, Prior Lake – 14 July 2008
The 18th show of the tenth All-Starr Band’s 29-date North American tour. The lineup included Colin Hay, Gary Wright, Edgar Winter, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart, and Gregg Bissonette.
2011
- 🎥 Martin Scorsese’s George Harrison documentary to air in October – 14 July 2011
It was announced that George Harrison: Living In The Material World would air on HBO on 5 and 6 October 2011, accompanied by a book by Olivia Harrison. The film features interviews with McCartney, Ringo, Clapton, Yoko Ono, Tom Petty, and others.

The 26th show of the 11th All-Starr Band’s 39-date European and South American tour. The lineup included Rick Derringer, Wally Palmar, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, Richard Page, and Gregg Bissonette.
2012
- 🎸 Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band live: Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery, Woodinville – 14 July 2012
The 22nd show of the 12th All-Starr Band’s 26-date North American tour. The lineup included Steve Lukather, Gregg Rolie, Todd Rundgren, Richard Page, Mark Rivera, Warren Ham, and Gregg Bissonette.
- 🎸 Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen silenced onstage in London – 14 July 2012
Paul McCartney joined Bruce Springsteen at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, performing ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ and ‘Twist And Shout’ — before the microphones were cut due to a curfew overrun. Steven Van Zandt said the group had intended to play at least one more song.
2013

The 20th date of the Out There Tour, attended by 14,784 fans. A 38-song set including Eight Days A Week, Blackbird, Something, Band On The Run, Live And Let Die, Hey Jude, Yesterday, and Helter Skelter.
2014
- 🎸 Paul McCartney live: Pinnacle Bank Arena, Lincoln – 14 July 2014
The 43rd date of the Out There Tour, attended by 13,983 fans. Prior to the show, McCartney was photographed with Warren Buffett on a bench in Omaha — an image that went viral on Twitter.
