On Monday 9 July 2018, Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band performed at the Piazza Degli Scacchi in Marostica, Italy. It was the 22nd show of the 13th All-Starr Band's 44-date tour of Europe and North America, which ran from June to September 2018. The Piazza Degli Scacchi – the Chess Square – is the historic central square of Marostica, a medieval walled town in the Veneto region, famous for its biennial human chess game played with costumed participants on the chessboard-patterned piazza.
The 13th All-Starr Band
- Ringo Starr – vocals, drums, percussion, keyboards
- Steve Lukather – vocals, guitar (Toto)
- Colin Hay – vocals, guitar, harmonica (Men at Work)
- Gregg Rolie – vocals, keyboards (Santana, Journey)
- Graham Gouldman – vocals, bass guitar, acoustic guitar (10cc)
- Warren Ham – vocals, saxophone, harmonica, flute, percussion, keyboards
- Gregg Bissonette – vocals, drums, trumpet
Graham Gouldman was the new addition to the 2018 lineup – the bassist, guitarist, and songwriter of 10cc, one of the most inventive British bands of the 1970s. Gouldman had also written hits for other artists before 10cc, including 'For Your Love' for The Yardbirds, 'Bus Stop' for The Hollies, and 'No Milk Today' for Herman's Hermits. His 10cc showcase songs – 'Dreadlock Holiday', 'I'm Not In Love', and 'The Things We Do For Love' – gave the Marostica audience three of the decade's most distinctive British pop records. Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, and Gregg Rolie all returned from previous All-Starr Band lineups.

Graham Gouldman's three featured songs represented three of 10cc's most celebrated recordings. 'I'm Not In Love' – the 1975 single with its extraordinary multi-tracked vocal arrangement – was one of the most technically ambitious pop records of the decade. 'Dreadlock Holiday' (1978) and 'The Things We Do For Love' (1977) were both UK number ones. Performing them in the medieval setting of the Piazza Degli Scacchi, with the Venetian walls of Marostica as a backdrop, gave the show a particularly atmospheric quality.
Gregg Rolie's Santana medley – 'Evil Ways', 'Black Magic Woman'/'Gypsy Queen', 'Oye Cómo Va' – was a fixture of the 13th All-Starr Band's sets, as it had been in 2014. Steve Lukather's 'Rosanna' and 'Hold The Line' bookended his showcase. Colin Hay performed 'Down Under' and 'Who Can It Be Now?' – the two Men at Work classics he had also played with the 2008 lineup.
