13 April 1961 – The Beatles Live at the Top Ten Club, Hamburg
The 13th consecutive night of The Beatles’ gruelling 92-night residency at the Top Ten Club on the Reeperbahn. Performing from 7pm to 2am on weekdays, the band accumulated over 503 hours of live performance during this engagement — a formative period that shaped their legendary live sound.

13 April 1962 – The Beatles’ Star-Club Hamburg Debut
Opening night of The Beatles’ 48-night residency at Hamburg’s newly opened Star-Club on Große Freiheit — the city’s most prestigious rock ‘n’ roll venue. The engagement accumulated approximately 172 hours of live performance and is widely regarded as the final chapter of their Hamburg apprenticeship.

13 April 1963 – The Beatles’ First National BBC Television Appearance
The Beatles recorded their first national BBC television broadcast on The 625 Show at Lime Grove Studios in Shepherd’s Bush, London. They performed ‘From Me To You’ (released just two days earlier), ‘Thank You Girl’, and ‘Please Please Me’. The episode was broadcast on 16 April 1963. After recording, they met Cliff Richard for the first time at a party hosted by Bruce Welch of The Shadows.

13 April 1964 – George Harrison Filming A Hard Day’s Night at Twickenham
George Harrison filmed his solo scene for A Hard Day’s Night at Twickenham Film Studios, including his famous “Oh, I’m not wearing that – that’s grotty!” line. In the afternoon, Harrison and John Lennon filmed the bathroom sequence together. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were not present on this day.

Help! Slow Motion Scene – Twickenham Film Studios
The slow-motion “relativity cadenza” sequence for Help! was completed at Twickenham Film Studios, having begun the previous day.

Paul McCartney Buys 7 Cavendish Avenue
Paul McCartney purchased a Regency townhouse at 7 Cavendish Avenue in St John’s Wood, London for approximately £40,000 — within walking distance of Abbey Road Studios. He moved in during March 1966 after renovations.

The Beatles on Pop Inn – BBC Radio
The Beatles gave a live BBC radio interview for Pop Inn from the BBC radio car in the Twickenham Film Studios car park, with their segment airing at approximately 1:45pm.

Recording ‘Help!’ – Abbey Road Studio Two
That evening, The Beatles recorded the title track ‘Help!’ at EMI Studios, Abbey Road (7:00pm–11:15pm), produced by George Martin. The basic track was completed in eight takes, with George Harrison’s descending guitar line added as the final overdub.

13 April 1966 – Revolver Sessions: Love You To & Paperback Writer
At Abbey Road Studio Three, The Beatles completed George Harrison’s Love You To (including a sitar introduction and reduction mix) before beginning work on Paperback Writer after a dinner break. Produced by George Martin, engineered by Geoff Emerick.

13 April 1971 – Paul McCartney Mixing RAM in Los Angeles
Engineer Eirik Wangberg continued final mixing sessions for Paul and Linda McCartney’s RAM album at Sound Recorders Studio in Los Angeles. The album was released on 17 May 1971 and is now regarded as one of McCartney’s most inventive solo works.
