Wings Live at the Omni Coliseum, Atlanta – 18 May 1976

Tuesday 18 May 1976 | Live, Paul McCartney, Wings
Omni Coliseum, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

On 18 May 1976, Wings performed at the Omni Coliseum in Atlanta, Georgia — the 38th night of the Wings Over The World Tour and the first of two consecutive nights in Atlanta. The 29-song set drew from across Wings' catalogue, including five Beatles songs performed live for the first time since The Beatles' final concert in 1966. McCartney returned to the Omni Coliseum on 18 and 19 February 1990.

The Wings Over The World Tour

The Wings Over The World Tour was the most ambitious concert tour of Paul McCartney's career to that point — 65 dates across the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, North America, and behind the Iron Curtain (Yugoslavia), running from September 1975 to October 1976. It was the first time McCartney had toured since the Wings 1973 UK Tour, and the first time he had performed Beatles songs live since The Beatles' final concert at Candlestick Park, San Francisco, on 29 August 1966 — nearly a decade earlier.

The North American leg, which included the Atlanta shows, was the centrepiece of the tour. It opened on 3 May 1976 in Fort Worth and ran through to 23 June in Los Angeles, covering 27 dates in 52 days.
