Paul McCartney performed at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC, USA, on 9 August 2016.

It was the 30th show of the One On One Tour, which ran for 77 dates between April 2016 and December 2017, and the first of two consecutive nights in DC.

McCartney had previously performed at the venue — then known as the MCI Center — on 23 and 24 April 2002 during the Driving World Tour, and on 8 October 2005 for the US Tour. By 2016 the arena had been renamed the Verizon Center.

McCartney's band

McCartney was joined on stage by his long-standing touring band: Paul 'Wix' Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).

Paul 'Wix' Wickens has been McCartney's keyboard player since the 1989–90 World Tour, making him one of the longest-serving members of any rock band's touring lineup. He has appeared on numerous McCartney studio albums and has contributed to arrangements across McCartney's solo catalogue.

Brian Ray joined McCartney's band in 2001 and plays both guitar and bass, often switching between the two mid-show. Before joining McCartney, Ray worked as a session musician and toured with Etta James. He has co-written material with McCartney and contributed to several studio projects.

Rusty Anderson has been McCartney's lead guitarist since 2001. A Los Angeles-based musician, Anderson has released solo albums and worked extensively as a session player. His guitar work is a defining feature of McCartney's live sound in the 2000s and 2010s.

Abe Laboriel Jr has been McCartney's drummer since 2001. The son of celebrated session bassist Abraham Laboriel Sr, he is widely regarded as one of the finest drummers in contemporary rock. He has appeared on McCartney's studio albums including Driving Rain (2001), Chaos And Creation In The Backyard (2005), Memory Almost Full (2007), and New (2013).
