Wings performed at the Olympen in Lund, Sweden, on 11 August 1972. It was the 16th night of the Wings Over Europe Tour, which had opened in Ollioules, France, on 9 July 1972 — Paul McCartney’s first European concerts since 1966.

During the show, McCartney mentioned that Wings were tired due to a “little bit of bother this morning” — a reference to the drugs bust the previous night in Gothenburg, when Paul and Linda McCartney and Denny Seiwell were arrested for cannabis possession following the Scandinavium concert.

The line-up for the Wings Over Europe Tour was:

Paul McCartney (vocals, guitar, bass guitar), Linda McCartney (vocals, keyboards), Denny Laine (vocals, guitar, bass guitar), Henry McCullough (guitar, vocals), and Denny Seiwell (drums).

Denny Laine was a co-founder of The Moody Blues and had sung lead on their 1964 debut single ‘Go Now’. He was a founding member of Wings in 1971 and remained with the band until its dissolution in 1981.

Henry McCullough was an Irish guitarist who had previously played with Joe Cocker’s Grease Band at Woodstock in 1969. He joined Wings in 1972 and left in 1973, shortly before the recording of Band on the Run.

Denny Seiwell was an American session drummer who had worked with McCartney on the Ram album (1971) before becoming a founding member of Wings. He also left the band in 1973 before Band on the Run.

The setlist included ‘Give Ireland Back to the Irish’, Wings’ politically charged single that had been banned by the BBC following its release in February 1972 in response to Bloody Sunday. Its inclusion in the live set was a deliberate statement. ‘Seaside Woman’ was a reggae-influenced song written by Linda McCartney, released under the name Suzy and the Red Stripes. ‘Henry’s Blues’ was a showcase for guitarist Henry McCullough.
