Wings performed at the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 10 August 1972. It was the 15th night of the Wings Over Europe Tour, which had opened in Ollioules, France, on 9 July 1972. These were Paul McCartney's first European concerts since 1966.

Following the show, Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney and Denny Seiwell were arrested at the venue for cannabis possession.

McCartney later performed solo shows at the Scandinavium on 28 September 1989 and 25 September 1993.

Wings

Wings at this time comprised Paul McCartney (vocals, guitar, bass guitar), Linda McCartney (vocals, keyboards), Denny Laine (vocals, guitar, bass guitar), Henry McCullough (guitar, vocals) and Denny Seiwell (drums).

Denny Laine had been the lead singer of The Moody Blues, whose debut single ‘Go Now’ reached number one in the UK in 1964. He was a founding member of Wings in 1971 and remained with the group until its dissolution in 1981. Laine died in December 2023.

Henry McCullough was an Irish guitarist who had performed at Woodstock in 1969 with the Grease Band, Joe Cocker’s backing group. He joined Wings in 1972 but departed, along with Denny Seiwell, in August 1973 — just before the group flew to Lagos to record Band on the Run.

Denny Seiwell had played drums on McCartney’s solo albums Ram (1971) and McCartney (1970 sessions), and was a founding member of Wings. His arrest alongside Paul and Linda in Gothenburg did not prevent the tour from continuing the following day.
