The Lennon Letters Publisher Announcement – 9 April 2011
Saturday 9 April 2011 | Books, John Lennon
On 9 April 2011, publishers were officially announced for The Lennon Letters, a major anthology collecting personal correspondence written by John Lennon throughout his life.
The book was confirmed for publication in October 2012 and would be released in the United States by Little, Brown and Company and in the United Kingdom by Weidenfeld & Nicolson.
About The Lennon Letters
The anthology was created with approval from Yoko Ono and edited by Beatles biographer Hunter Davies. It presents a chronological collection of Lennon's handwritten and typed letters, postcards, cartoons, and personal sketches.
The publisher described the archive as a living narrative of Lennon's life, built entirely from his own written voice.
“John wrote letters and postcards all of his life; to his friends, family, strangers, newspapers, organisations, lawyers and the laundry – most of which were funny, informative, campaigning, wise, mad, poetic, anguished and sometimes heartbreaking.”
