The Odd Spot Club
The Odd Spot Club opened on 9 December 1961 at 89 Bold Street in Liverpool city centre. Bold Street was one of Liverpool’s most fashionable shopping streets, and the club was part of the thriving network of small venues that sustained the Liverpool beat scene in the early 1960s.
By August 1962, The Beatles were among the most in-demand acts on Merseyside, performing at a wide variety of venues across Liverpool and beyond while also making regular appearances at the Cavern Club. This period was one of intense activity — and significant change. Pete Best was still the group’s drummer at the time of this performance; he was replaced by Ringo Starr just five days later, on 16 August 1962.
The group had recorded their debut single ‘Love Me Do’ at EMI Studios in London on 6 June 1962, with producer George Martin. It would be released on 5 October 1962.
