Sgt Pepper Mixing Session 17 April 1967 – Beatles Complete Four Stereo Mixes

Mixing: Getting Better, She’s Leaving Home, When I’m Sixty-Four, Lovely Rita

Monday 17 April 1967 | Sgt Pepper, Studio

The Beatles continued stereo mixing work for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band at EMI Studios, Abbey Road, in the control room of Studio Two. This marked the second consecutive day devoted to stereo mixes for the landmark album.

The session began with Getting Better, which was completed in a single mixing attempt. Attention then turned to She’s Leaving Home, which required six attempts before a satisfactory stereo mix was achieved.

When I’m Sixty-Four followed, and like Getting Better, was mixed in one attempt. The final track addressed during the session was Lovely Rita, for which two stereo mixes were created, with the second selected for inclusion on the album.

The session concluded with a final edit to She’s Leaving Home, completing the song for release.
