On 4 November 2013, Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band performed at the Teatro Ópera in Buenos Aires. The concert began a four-show Argentine visit: after the theatre appearance came Córdoba on 6 November, followed by two nights at Buenos Aires’ Luna Park on 8 and 9 November.
The band arrived after its 2 November concert at the Conrad in Punta del Este, Uruguay. In Buenos Aires, the programme combined Ringo’s Beatles repertoire and solo recordings with songs associated with Toto, Mr. Mister, Santana and Todd Rundgren.
A theatre concert added to the Argentine visit
The Teatro Ópera performance was announced in October as an additional, more intimate Buenos Aires date. An originally scheduled 4 November appearance in Paraguay had been cancelled, allowing the Argentine theatre booking to take its place. That change explains why an older published itinerary still places the band in Asunción on this date.
Contemporary coverage described a concert lasting around two hours. Clarín reported that Ringo entered in black, making his familiar peace sign, as the band launched into “Matchbox”. The audience stood through the opening three songs, which continued with “It Don’t Come Easy” and “Wings”. Ringo thanked the crowd in Spanish.
At 73, Ringo shared the lead-vocal duties across a seven-piece group. He moved between front-of-stage singing and the drum kit, with Gregg Bissonette supplying the second drummer’s part. The format gave the other singers room for their own best-known songs rather than treating the concert as a continuous sequence of Ringo numbers.
The 12th All-Starr Band
| Musician | Role and repertoire |
|---|---|
| Ringo Starr | Vocals and drums; Beatles songs and solo recordings |
| Steve Lukather | Guitar and vocals; Toto’s “Rosanna”, “Africa” and “Hold the Line” |
| Richard Page | Bass and vocals; Mr. Mister’s “Kyrie” and “Broken Wings”, plus “You Are Mine” |
| Todd Rundgren | Guitar, percussion and vocals; “I Saw the Light”, “Bang the Drum All Day” and Utopia’s “Love Is the Answer” |
| Gregg Rolie | Keyboards and vocals; repertoire associated with Santana, including “Evil Ways”, “Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen” and “Oye Cómo Va” |
| Mark Rivera | Saxophone, percussion, keyboards and backing vocals |
| Gregg Bissonette | Drums and backing vocals |
Lukather, Page, Rundgren and Rolie each took lead vocals during the evening. Rivera’s multi-instrumental role and Bissonette’s drumming supported those changes of singer and style. The same personnel appear on the supplied All-Starr promotional poster.
Beatles favourites and Ringo’s solo songs
Ringo’s selections reached back to the Beatles’ early rock ’n’ roll repertoire. “Matchbox” and “Honey Don’t” were Carl Perkins songs, while “Boys” had been recorded by the Shirelles. “Act Naturally”, associated with Buck Owens before the Beatles recorded it, supplied another country-flavoured part of the show.
“Don’t Pass Me By” represented Ringo’s songwriting contribution to the White Album. “Yellow Submarine”, “I Wanna Be Your Man” and “With a Little Help from My Friends” brought together songs closely associated with his voice in the Beatles. The closing “Give Peace a Chance” carried John Lennon’s peace anthem into the finale.
The solo material included “It Don’t Come Easy” and “Photograph”, alongside “Wings” and “Anthem”. “Wings” had first appeared in the 1970s before Ringo returned to it for Ringo 2012; “Anthem” also came from that album. Those recent recordings sat alongside the established hits rather than being separated into a new-album section.

Teatro Ópera: venue and location
The Teatro Ópera stands at Avenida Corrientes 860, Buenos Aires, Argentina, close to the Obelisco. The present theatre opened in 1936, replacing an earlier theatre on the site. Its position on Avenida Corrientes places it within the city’s established theatre district.
The 4 November appearance took place here, not at Luna Park, which hosted the later Buenos Aires concerts on 8 and 9 November.
