The first All-Starr Band was an extraordinary assembly of rock royalty. Joe Walsh was the guitarist of the Eagles and a celebrated solo artist. Nils Lofgren was a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. Rick Danko and Levon Helm were members of The Band. Dr John was the New Orleans piano legend. Billy Preston had played keyboards on The Beatles’ Let It Be sessions and on the rooftop concert. Clarence Clemons was the saxophonist of the E Street Band. Jim Keltner was one of the most celebrated session drummers in rock history, with a long association with all four former Beatles.
