Vocal Overdubs – 27th February 1975
During the Los Angeles session:
- Paul McCartney recorded his lead vocal in two separate attempts.
- The released master was created as a composite edit of those two performances.
Following the completion of the lead vocal, backing vocals were added by:
- Paul McCartney
- Linda McCartney
- Denny Laine
These layered harmonies contributed to the song's polished, reflective character.
Historical Context
The Los Angeles sessions formed part of the final production phase of Venus And Mars, released in May 1975.
By this stage:
- Wings were preparing for the ambitious Wings Over The World tour.
- The album marked a more expansive, polished sound compared to Band on the Run.
- Recording was split between London and Los Angeles studios.
Love In Song remains one of the album's more introspective tracks, built around a dramatic chord structure and shifting melodic phrasing.
