Paul McCartney live: Hard Rock Live, Hollywood – 25 May 2022
Wednesday 25 May 2022 | Live, Paul McCartney
Hard Rock Live, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, Florida, USA
Paul McCartney performed at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on 25 May 2022 — the ninth show of the Got Back Tour. With a capacity of around 7,000, the Hard Rock Live was one of the more intimate venues on a tour that also took in stadiums and festival headline slots. The 36-song set drew on six decades of McCartney's catalogue, from The Beatles' earliest recordings to material from his most recent solo albums.
The Got Back Tour
The Got Back Tour was the longest and most geographically expansive tour of McCartney's career, running from 28 April 2022 to 29 October 2025 — a total of 80 dates across the United States, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, South America, and Europe. It took its name from the Beatles song 'Get Back', and its scope — spanning three and a half years and five continents — was remarkable for an artist who turned 80 during the tour's run.
The 2022 North American leg opened in Spokane in April and built toward two landmark dates: a warm-up show at the Cheese & Grain in Frome, Somerset on 24 June — a 1,500-capacity venue that McCartney played as a deliberate contrast to the stadium scale of the rest of the tour — and a headline appearance at Glastonbury Festival on 25 June 2022, his second Glastonbury headline after 2004. The Glastonbury set, which included a duet with Bruce Springsteen and a holographic appearance by John Lennon, was one of the most watched and discussed live performances of 2022.
The Band
McCartney's Got Back Tour band was an expanded version of his long-standing touring lineup, with a brass section added for the first time in years:
- Paul 'Wix' Wickens — vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica. With McCartney since 1989.
- Brian Ray — vocals, guitar, bass. With McCartney since 2002.
- Rusty Anderson — vocals, guitar. With McCartney since 2001.
- Abe Laboriel Jr — vocals, drums. With McCartney since 2001.
- Kenji Fenton — saxophone.
- Mike Davis — trumpet.
- Paul Burton — trombone.
The Setlist
The 36-song Hollywood setlist was consistent with the Got Back Tour's standard running order, which remained largely stable across the 2022 North American leg:
- 'Can't Buy Me Love'
- 'Junior's Farm'
- 'Letting Go'
- 'Got To Get You Into My Life'

'Something' — George Harrison's song from Abbey Road (1969), which Frank Sinatra called the greatest love song of the past fifty years — was performed by McCartney on ukulele, a tribute to Harrison that he has maintained since the Concert for George in 2002. Harrison had given McCartney the ukulele, and the instrument has become a recurring motif in McCartney's live tributes to his former bandmate.
'In Spite Of All The Danger' — the 1958 Quarrymen recording, the earliest known recording by any member of The Beatles — continued its run as a regular feature of McCartney's live sets, bridging the gap between the very beginning of the story and the present.
'Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite!' — a Sgt. Pepper track rarely performed live — was a notable inclusion, as was the Abbey Road medley sequence of 'You Never Give Me Your Money' / 'She Came In Through The Bathroom Window', which gave the show one of its most musically ambitious passages.
'I've Got A Feeling' was performed using footage of John Lennon singing his part — a technology-assisted duet across time that had been one of the most talked-about moments of the Got Back Tour's opening nights.
Ringo Starr at Hard Rock Live
The Hard Rock Live in Hollywood has also hosted Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band on multiple occasions: 3 July 2008, 15 July 2010, 30 June 2012, 17 September 2022, and 20 June 2025. The September 2022 date came just four months after McCartney's show — meaning both surviving Beatles performed at the same venue within the same year.
