Paul McCartney Live at Royal Albert Hall, London – 29 March 2012

Thursday 29 March 2012 | Live, Paul McCartney

On 29 March 2012, Paul McCartney performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. This was the 23rd show of the On The Run Tour (37 dates, July 2011 – November 2012). The set was shorter than other tour dates, with several songs dropped.

The concert was a charity event in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. McCartney rearranged his European tour dates specifically for this event. The concert was introduced by Paul Weller, who called McCartney “a fella I’ve been listening to my whole life.” Weller and Roger Daltrey joined McCartney’s band for a performance of The Beatles’ ‘Get Back’, also featuring Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones.

This was McCartney’s first performance at the Royal Albert Hall since the Concert For George in 2002. The date coincided with the 141st anniversary of the venue’s official opening by Queen Victoria and Edward, Prince of Wales.

McCartney’s band included Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).
