John Lennon and Yoko Ono attended a peace rally in New York City on 22 April 1972.
The National Peace Action Coalition Rally began at 76th Street and Central Park West in Manhattan, proceeded down 59th Street to 42nd Street via 7th Avenue, and then continued down 42nd Street to Bryant Park. Approximately 30,000 people took part in the demonstration, which formed part of a nationwide day of protests against US involvement in the Vietnam War.
A platform was erected at 40th Street and 6th Avenue, where Lennon and Ono led the crowd in a performance of ‘Give Peace A Chance’.
