On 4 April 2009, it was announced that George Harrison would receive a posthumous Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Harrison passed away from cancer on 29 November 2001.
Ceremony Details
The unveiling ceremony took place on 14 April 2009 at 11:30am PST at 1750 Vine Street, Los Angeles, in front of the Capitol Records building. Harrison’s wife Olivia Harrison and son Dhani Harrison accepted the star on his behalf. The event was open to the public.
Significance
Although Harrison already shares a Walk of Fame star with the other three Beatles, he is one of only two members of the band to receive an individual star — the other being John Lennon. Harrison’s star became the 2,382nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
