Wednesday 24th February 1965 | Day 2 of Filming
On Wednesday 24th February 1965, The Beatles began their first full day of filming in the Bahamas for their second feature film, Help!.
Production settled into the structured 8:30am–5:30pm schedule that would be maintained throughout the two-week Bahamian shoot on New Providence Island.
Interfield Road – Nassau
Much of the day's filming took place on Interfield Road, a long, open stretch near Nassau International Airport.

The Beatles were filmed:
- Cycling along the road
- Performing additional chase and exterior sequences
Interfield Road later became John F Kennedy Drive, making it a notable landmark for Beatles location historians.
The expansive roadway allowed director Richard Lester to stage fast-moving outdoor scenes that contributed to Help!'s energetic, comic-adventure tone.
Production Context
By 24th February 1965:
- Principal photography had officially moved into full schedule mode.
- The Bahamas block was prioritising exterior daylight sequences.
- The film's globe-trotting aesthetic was beginning to take visual shape.
The Nassau filming phase would continue without a break until 9th March 1965, covering beaches, docks, gardens, and airport locations across the island.
Historical Significance
This first full day of filming established the production rhythm that would carry through the entire Bahamas schedule, creating some of Help!'s most memorable tropical sequences.
