Filming: A Hard Day's Night
Friday 24 April 1964 | A Hard Day's Night, Film and video
Six weeks of filming on A Hard Day's Night concluded on this day, with the production wrapping principal photography.
The final scene filmed was shot at Edgehill Road in Ealing, London, as part of Ringo Starr's solo sequence. In the scene, Ringo performs a comedic "Sir Walter Raleigh" gesture by laying his coat over puddles for a woman to walk on, only to discover one of the puddles is actually a hole.
The Beatles had begun filming on 2 March 1964, making this their 40th filming day, although some scenes were shot without their direct involvement.
Wrap Party
To mark the end of filming, The Beatles, cast members, film crew, and visiting US radio DJ Murray the K attended a private wrap celebration at the Turks Head pub in Twickenham — the same location used for part of Ringo Starr's pub sequence filmed earlier in production.
Location
Edgehill Road, Ealing, London, England
