Of the four Beatles, George Harrison is perhaps the one whose solo legacy has grown most dramatically in the decades since the band broke up. Underestimated within The Beatles ā limited to two or three songs per album while Lennon and McCartney dominated ā Harrison emerged in 1970 with All Things Must Pass and proved, definitively, that he had been holding back a masterpiece. At Beatles Fabdom, our officially licensed George Harrison collection celebrates every dimension of that extraordinary career.
All Things Must Pass
Released in November 1970, All Things Must Pass was a triple album ā an almost unheard-of format for a debut solo record. Produced by Phil Spector with Harrison, it drew on years of songs that had been rejected or overlooked during the Beatles years: "My Sweet Lord", "What Is Life", "Isn't It a Pity", "Beware of Darkness". It was a creative explosion from an artist finally given the space to express himself fully. It reached number one in both the UK and the US and remains one of the greatest albums ever made. The Quiet Beatle's Legacy
George Harrison died on 29th November 2001, aged 58. He left behind a body of work that continues to grow in stature ā not just All Things Must Pass and the Traveling Wilburys, but "Something" (which Frank Sinatra called the greatest love song ever written), "Here Comes the Sun", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", and a spiritual journey that took him from Liverpool to India and back again. He was, in the end, anything but quiet. He was simply patient.
