The tour represented Paul McCartney's first European concerts since 1966 — the year The Beatles played their final live shows.

The Wings Over Europe Tour

The Wings Over Europe Tour was a landmark moment in Paul McCartney's post-Beatles career. Having spent the years since The Beatles' break-up largely out of the live arena, McCartney took Wings on the road across Europe in the summer of 1972 — a tour that was deliberately low-key in its early stages, with the band travelling by bus and playing a mix of theatres, concert halls and outdoor venues.

The 1972 line-up of Wings featured Paul McCartney on vocals, guitar and bass guitar; Linda McCartney on vocals and keyboards; Denny Laine on vocals, guitar and bass guitar; Henry McCullough on guitar and vocals; and Denny Seiwell on drums.
